The Objectives of the Association is to further the good fellowship and ‘esprit de corps’ of Gunnery Instructors and Above Water Warfare Senior Rates, in the best traditions of the service. To further the welfare and aid of members. To provide entertainment of a social and recreational nature.

The Membership is open to all ex-serving Gunnery Instructors of whatever rank or rating. To all serving and ex-serving Gunnery, AWW or Missile Senior rates and Leading Seaman (AWW) on qualifying. There is also a limited Social Membership open to those who have benefited the Association by their services or support.

The Association quarters are based at Building 17, Quarterdeck Avenue, HMS Excellent, Whale Island, Portsmouth, Hampshire. PO2 8ER

The Association is administered by a President who is a serving Senior Rate or Warrant Officer, they are elected by nomination. They are aided by a Vice President who may be a serving or ex-serving member. They are assisted by a committee of several members accountable for specific tasks who are all elected by nomination.

The President's Charity of 2026 - This year it has been decided that we will be raising money for the association itself. Due to it being the 80th annual dinner, the extra donations raised will help with the cost of this milestone event.

The Association meets monthly (usually on the first Wednesday) at 1930. The Association aims to hold three annual ‘Black Tie’ events - Annual Dinner, Burns night and Pickle night and minor events as required.
